RESEARCH

Dr. Tubman conducts research on the development and maintenance of adolescent problem behaviors including: substance abuse, delinquency, and health risk behaviors.  He is particularly interested in emerging relations in adolescence between indices of mental health and health risk behaviors.  He is currently a co-investigator on a NIAAA-funded community-based evaluation study of brief motivational, behavioral interventions for adolescents with substance abuse problems in the juvenile justice system in Miami.  He is a member of the Community-Based Intervention Research Group (C-BIRG) at Florida International University.    He teaches undergraduate courses in research methods, developmental psychology, and mental health, as well as graduate courses in the Mental Health Research and Services Program and the doctoral program in Life Span Developmental Psychology.
