MS Degree Requirements 
Students who are accepted to the Masters Program must meet the requirements outlined in this section.
To be awarded the Masters of Science in Psychology degree with a specialization in lifespan development students must complete at least 36 semester hours beyond the Bachelors degree as described below. Students should review the Degree Requirements for the Masters of Science in L Developmental Science handbook for specific information.
As part of the program of studies students:
complete core course requirements designed to facilitate a thorough grounding in
research, theory, and methods across the lifespan

develop an area of specialization within or across the lifespan

receive training in both basic and/or applied research in developmental science

Application for Transfer to the Ph.D. Program
Applications for transfer from a Masters Program (M.S. in Psychology) to the Developmental Science Doctoral Program (Ph.D. in Psychology) are reviewed for acceptance by the Program Committee twice a year (August and December). Applications for transfer may be obtained from the graduate secretary
Minimum requirements for transfer include:
- Masters thesis proposal approved by the masters thesis committee
- A letter from the chair of the thesis committee stating that they meet the standards for application to the Ph.D.
