Master of Science in Psychology


The Masters of Science in Psychology Program at the University is designed to train practitioners and researchers who can function in a variety of applied settings. The curriculum consists of 36 semester hours. Six of the 36 semester credit hours consist of Master’s thesis credits. In our Department there are three Master of Science areas (Life-span Developmental Science, Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Behavior Analysis) and Professional Psychology Master Tracks (Legal Psychology and Law, Counseling Psychology, and Professional Counseling Psychology) offered through our department.

 

Master’s of Science in Psychology areas:

Life-span Developmental Science emphasizes basic and applied research across the lifespan, including infancy, childhood, adolescence, and aging. The current Director of this program is

Industrial-Organizational Psychology focuses on enhancing human well-being and performance in organizational and work settings. The current Director of this program is Dr. Vish Viswesvaran.

Behavior Analysis focuses on improving human behavior by enhancing the development, abilities, and choices of children and adults with different kinds of disabilities or in a wide variety of school or work settings. This program allows students to meet the course and practice requirements for the National Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCABA, BCBA). The current Director of this program is Dr. Jaccob Gewirtz.

 

Professional Psychology Master’s Tracks

Legal Psychology and Law. (Dual MS/JD degree).
Candidates must meet the entrance requirements and be accepted by the Psychology and the College of Law. The current Director of this program is Dr. Ronald Fisher.

Counseling Psychology. This track requires students to complete 60 credit hours to achieve eligibility to take the Florida state exam for a license in Mental Health Counseling. Please note that we no longer offer an an accelerated weekend format of the Counseling Psychology Program. The current Coordinator of this program is Dr. Lisa Arango- Lewis. The current Director of this program is Dr. Wendy Silverman.
